 Born in the sixties to the doyen of the Australian nightclub industry Brian Goldsmith and model, actress Rona Newton-john, Tottie, one of eight children was surrounded by colourful and creative influences. It’s no surprise Tottie was drawn to, and has been a part of the Australian performing arts industry or four decades.

With an eclectic career spanning music, film, television radio and theatre Tottie became one of the country’s best known and memorable entertainment personalities.

Tottie began her journey as a dancer but due to injury early in her career, turned her artistic expression to acting which unfolded into appearing on practically every iconic Australian TV show throughout the 80’s and 90s. 

In 1986 Tottie and her brother Brett, founded girl group The Chantoozies who’s first hit single ‘Witch Queen’ reached gold & platinum status in Australia.

In the 90’s Tottie’s  television, radio and hosting blossomed. Hosting Ten’s controversial and groundbreaking Sex/Life series, the first-ever televised coverage of the Australian Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras 1997, and TTFM’s top-rating breakfast radio program in Melbourne

Her TV & Film credits include; The Young Doctors,  Prisoner, ‘Fire’, Bryan Brown’s ‘Twisted Tales’, ‘Mission Impossible’, Blue Heelers, The Secret Life of Us, Neighbours, Underbelly’s Infiltration, Stingers, Fat Pizza, Swift and Shift Couriers, ‘Visitors’  and she won best supporting actress in Start Options Exit at the Melbourne Underground Film Festival in 2014. In the 2020’s Tottie stared in feature film ‘The Taverna’ and ‘Rage’

Tottie has acted as MC for many prestigious events including working alongside Jerry Lewis’s for his muscular dystrophy campaign and hosting his gala fundraising events in both Melbourne and Sydney. Tottie has MC’d many events at both Crown Palladium Melbourne and the Grand Hyatt, including the Miss Australia awards and most recently interviewing John Travolta and Olivia at G’day L.A in 2020.

Tottie has given her time and support to many charities over the years, predominantly her aunt Olivia Newton-johns Cancer and Wellness centre and in 2019 was recognised for her 15 years of commitment by being awarded Goodwill ambassador.

Then in 2020 Tottie was awarded an OAM for her contribution to Charity and the performing arts. 

Born to be onstage

Her stage career yielded such successes as, ‘Miss Lynch’ in Grease The Arena Spectacular, ‘Janet’ in The New Rocky Horror Show at Sydney’s Star City – her first role in musical theatre – and ‘Susanne’ for a national tour of Don’t Dress for Dinner with Dennis Waterman and Jon English. Was invited to perform Vagina Monologues with various celebrities in the Melbourne run. She has since starred opposite Samuel Johnson in the national tour of Sex With Strangers, then co-starred as ‘Celia’ in the Melbourne run of Calendar Girls.
